“I did the training Summer 2024. As a yoga teacher, yoga therapist and someone who has taken up paddleboarding in the last few years, I was looking for a training that would combine the two activities and especially emphasize the water safety aspect as well as specific paddleboarding techniques. I had taken a few classes with Tara in the past and had high expectations. My expectations were exceeded as the training proved to be alot of fun and very informative. The training covered many topics in a structured way which helped with digesting the volume of information presented. Water safety as well as yoga pose safety on the paddleboard and avoiding motion sickness were covered. Daily practices, sample classes and teaching practice as well as explanations on pose options and how to progress poses on the board were really enlightening and added new inspiration to my practice. Tara's expertise and love of Paddleboarding and Yoga are apparent. Her desire to pass on her knowledge and big heart really elevated the whole training experience. I would recommend this for anyone looking to improve or inspire their practice as well as anyone looking into teaching this modality.”

“I had an amazing experience taking the SUP Yoga and Paddlefit Training with Rivertowns SUP & Yoga! There's so much to learn in this certification course, which provides expert instruction that equips attendees with the skills and confidence needed to teach both SUP yoga and PaddleFit classes. Tara put so much thought and effort into every little detail over the three days we were with her - she truly cares about her students and has so much knowledge to share. The environment was energizing, fun, and welcoming. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to bond with the fantastic people in my cohort and connect with nature (a few bald eagles made their presence known while we were training on the water).
The curriculum was comprehensive, covering everything from SUP equipment considerations, water safety, weather challenges, sequencing creative yoga flows, leading effective PaddleFit drills, and the ins and outs of starting and running a business. I highly recommend this certification course and have no doubt that future students of this program will graduate feeling inspired and empowered to teach on the water in a way that is fun and safe for their students.”

“In 3 days, I had the most incredible experience diving deep into the world of SUP Yoga and PaddleFit. This training was so much more than just learning how to teach yoga on the water—it was an immersive journey into understanding paddleboarding, safety, and the fitness elements that make this practice so unique.
From the very first session, we were guided through essential paddle techniques, water safety protocols, and how to create a secure yet fluid practice for students of all levels. The balance between learning to read the water, anchoring effectively, and adapting yoga sequences to the board made every moment both challenging and rewarding.
The PaddleFit component brought a whole new perspective on strength, endurance, and movement on the board. We explored ways to incorporate fitness drills that enhance stability, core engagement, and overall performance—proving that paddleboarding is just as much about strength and mobility as it is about flow and mindfulness.
I walked away from this training with so much confidence, new skills, and a deeper appreciation for teaching yoga in an entirely new element. If you’re looking to expand your yoga practice beyond the mat and into nature, this is an experience I highly recommend!”

“I have taken many yoga classes with Tara and have enjoyed several SUP classes as well. I have always admired Tara's attention to her students while maintaining a friendly easy-going style. As a yoga instructor and avid paddler I was thrilled when Tara announced that Rivertowns SUP yoga would be hosting a training and certification course. Tara and Rivertowns did not disappoint! Not only does Tara provide clear easy to understand instructions she is also a master at making you feel at ease on the water and ready to teach a SUP Yoga class. She provided detailed explanation of the board and paddle, and we were able to work on and refine our paddling skills and safety procedures. The training covered all aspects of running a class as well as starting a business. While Tara is knowledgeable about both yoga and paddling, it is clear that she is an expert in her environment as well. She paid careful attention to weather and tide schedules and provided an excellent example of how important it is to know your environment. I finished the course feeling grounded and safe and comfortable to teach a beginner level class. Tara was open to questions and feedback and made the entire experience joyful. You truly get a sense of how much she loves her craft and how passionate she is about sharing her love of yoga and water with others.”
