Paddle Parade Route

Launch from boathouse ramp (yellow) and gather for a wicked group photo!

“10-Cent Rental” - paddle along shoreline toward the rock jetty (light blue),

“I Drive Stick” - continue south along the riverwalk to the south end of park (medium blue),

“Frequent Flyer” - continue to lighthouse (dark blue).

Paddle only as far as you feel comfortable. SUP Witches can stop anywhere along the route to return back to the ramp if they do not feel comfortable with the water conditions while paddling.

Please use caution paddling close to shore - there are some underwater rocks close to shore along the Kingsland Point Park Riverwalk (medium blue).

Vendors & the event stage will be set up on the grass field (purple).

SUP WITCHES - IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW

COSTUMES — Costumes are required! Choose a costume you can comfortably paddle in and potentially swim in. Heavy cotton and other heavy fabric is not recommended. There is a possibility your clothes may get wet - you will be in the water approximately knee deep when you launch. We encourage quick-drying clothing and/or wetsuits, especially with colder temperatures this time of year. If you are wearing a witch’s hat, consider securing it with a strap. We are not responsible for items that are lost in the water. Keep a towel and a change of clothes in your car (just in case). A cauldron will be available at the registration table to hold keys and other small items if needed - yes, a cauldron.

SAFETY FIRST — PFDs and leashes are required! SUP leashes must be worn; paddlers will be checked at the launch points by event officials. PFDs are required by law to be on your vessel, we strongly recommend you wear them! Waist & inflatable PFDs are acceptable.

PADDLE AT YOUR OWN RISK — Previous paddle experience is required. If you are not comfortable paddling on the Hudson River, do not register for this event. Anyone participating in the paddle is responsible for their own equipment and/or equipment they are renting. All paddlers should have adequate skills, knowledge, and experience to participate in a paddle event on the Hudson River.

why must All participants register?

  • complete a signed waiver

  • provide contact information to share final details & updated information prior to the event (parking, weather, check-in instructions, etc.)

  • a head count (insert wicked laughter), you never know when the Headless Horseman may appear! In all seriousness, we need to provide a headcount to local authority so appropriate water support is available for the safety of all participants.

The festival is open to the public and free for spectators. Anyone participating in the paddle MUST REGISTER IN ADVANCE! Thank you, it’s going to be SPOOKTACULAR!
